Campbellsville University’s Homecoming celebration is a cherished tradition, bringing together alumni, students, faculty, and staff to celebrate the rich history and community spirit of our university.
Over the years, Homecoming has been a time to reconnect, reminisce, and create new memories, with activities ranging from spirited games to alumni gatherings. Past articles highlight the excitement, pride, and ongoing legacy of this beloved event, which continues to foster a deep sense of camaraderie and school pride for all who are part of the Campbellsville community.

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Had it not been for a determined teacher, a helpful admissions director and plenty of financial support, Linda Gaby wouldn’t have found her way to what was then Campbellsville College.
As she prepared to graduate high school, Gaby, a Western Kentucky native, had written off going to college, thinking her family couldn’t afford to put her through school.
“One of my teachers came and got me out of class one day and said, ‘What do you mean you’re not going to college?” Linda recalled. “And I said, ‘You know we can’t afford it,’ and he said, ‘We’re going to talk to the counselor and we’re going to find a way.’”

A Reason to Roar
So much has changed about Campbellsville University since Sharon Hedrick attended as a student 50 years ago.
Numerous new facilities, such as Ransdell Chapel, the School of Nursing and the new press box at Finley Stadium, dot the campus Hedrick once walked as a student.
Even the name of her alma mater has changed, with Campbellsville College becoming Campbellsville University in 1996.
And, the Badgett Academic Support Center (BASC) Banquet Hall, where Hedrick was inducted into the Golden Heritage Club, once served as the school's cafeteria.

2022 - Campbellsville University celebrates a Homecoming of milestones

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Homecoming 2022 at Campbellsville University celebrated milestones for the Tiger Marching Band, Fighting Tiger Football Team and the Homecoming Car Show.
Fighting Tiger Football, which debuted in 1987, celebrated its 35th anniversary. The Tiger Marching Band, which took the field in 1992, celebrated its 30thanniversary, and the Homecoming Car Show, which made its first appearance in 1992, also celebrated its 30th anniversary.
Maroon Medley was this year's Homecoming theme.
“Seeing everyone's smiling faces and enjoying all the festivities makes all the preparation and planning worth it,” Ashley Fox, director of alumni relations said.

2021 - Campbellsville University Homecoming 2021 is success in many areas
Together Again
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Homecoming 2021 was full of winning for Campbellsville University across the board.
The Fighting Tiger Football team defeated the University of Pikeville 31-28 in the Homecoming game Oct. 9 for their first win of the season and their first Homecoming win since 2015 when the Tigers defeated the University of Pikeville 42-34.
In addition to the Tigers' win, there were also winners for Distinguished Alumni, Distinguished Young Alumni, Homecoming Queen, Homecoming floats in the parade, the Classes of 1970 and 1971, Ashley Fox, the 25thanniversary of the Carver School of Social Work, the Mass Communication Center, a Virtual Trivia game and a scholarship fund start for the late artist Tommy Clark.

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Although there weren't thousands of people on Campbellsville
University's campus for her 2020 Homecoming, the university's first virtual one was
a success, according to Ashley Fox, director of alumni relations.
“Even though we couldn't gather on campus for this year's Homecoming, I could still
feel the connection to the CU family through our virtual events,” she said.
Videos and contests were the “norm” for the “Play Paws Rewind” virtual Homecoming
with posts from the university appearing in feeds and being seen over 75,000 times.

Homecoming 2019 was held on Oct. 17-19 where Savannah Gregory was crowned Homecoming Queen; Hilda Legg, and Fred and Martha Stein were awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award; Phillip Hert and Jana Harston Hert were named Honorary Alumni; the Class of 1969 were inducted into the Golden Heritage Club; the Fighting Tigers faced off against the University of Pikeville; the Homecoming parade float winner was International Student Association where Legg served as the grand marshal; a ribbon cutting took place for the new fieldhouse; and the University Theater performed "She Loves Me."

Senior were awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award, and Senior's wife, Vicki, was named an Honorary Alumna; the Class of 1967 were inducted into the Golden Heritage Club and the Class of 1957 held a reunion; the Fighting Tigers faced off against Georgetown College in double overtime; the Homecoming parade float winner was the School of Education; and the Car Cruise celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Homecoming 2016 was held on Oct. 14-15 where Jesslyn McCandless was crowned Homecoming Queen; Lindy Forbes was awarded the Distinguished Alumna Award and her mother, Betty, was named an Honorary Alumna; the Class of 1966 were inducted into the Golden Heritage Club and the Class of 1956 held a reunion; the Fighting Tigers faced off against Bethel University; the Homecoming parade float winner was the International Student Association; the Tiger Marching Band held it's 25th anniversary and was directed by Dr. David McCullough, the first band director; the Exie Boys performed on campus; and Bluegrass musician Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder held a concert to kick off Homecoming festivities.

Winters, president and first lady of CU from 1988 to 1999, attended the Student Government Association breakfast reunion, and Winters performed the coin toss to start the football game.
